Please welcome Aimee Gallo, LN, CN, HHC, founder of Vibrance Nutrition and Fitness, a private nutrition practice that focuses on metabolic health, and host of Blasphemous Nutrition, the standout podcast that debunks diet dogma with a side of science, sass, and a smile.
In this blog, Aimee shares her experience with learning and implementing basic SEO, specifically blog keyword search techniques, and how these steps are supercharging her wellness business!
A little about me and my first impression of SEO
I get it: SEO is big and intimidating.
But I was committed to not using ads to gain visibility. And I have a very limited tolerance for social media and tend to get frustrated when trying to use it for marketing.
After listening to the experiences of other practitioners, I found that the only ones who seemed to have great success running ads were those who already had large audiences or huge spending budgets to be everywhere on all the platforms.
So, it seemed I was left with very few options for marketing my practice and podcast.
I was already connected to Victoria and saw her posts on Facebook about the use of SEO and blog keyword search strategies to increase visibility online. While I expected SEO to have a huge learning curve, it still seemed like a good marketing technique to try while I summoned the courage to begin my podcast. (Which is now launched! You can listen here!)
Honestly, if Victoria hadn’t calmed my fears that SEO was easier and more effective than I feared, I’m not sure what I would have done!
When I spoke with her, she offered some initial helpful ideas to narrow down my niche in blogging, which I’ve now learned is a non-negotiable part of successful SEO.
Those tips gave me confidence…I could grow my business with SEO. So, on a leap of faith, I signed up for DIY SEO in the spring of 2023. If I was going to master this strategy, I wanted to learn it from her.
What I learned about my site sans SEO
It turns out that longevity in the field pays off, and this was probably my biggest asset. My blog has been around for about 15 years. But rather than using it as a focused marketing tool and information hub for my clients, it served as a repository for recipes and random thoughts. I needed direction.
While I was still somewhat uncomfortable narrowing down my niche, I was able to narrow down some of the language on my main page. These minor adjustments more closely aligned with the types of people I wanted to work with, even though I had not committed to a single focus. After initially speaking to Victoria, I had a couple of broad keywords that I knew would help me attract my ideal clients and a clearer, more authentic voice on my homepage.
Is a blog keyword search worth your time?
When I signed up with Ubersuggest (the SEO tool Victoria uses in her classes) to focus on blog keyword search ranking, I discovered that I was already ranking fairly high for a keyword that was related to metabolic health, a topic that was very important to the clients I want to work with.
Not quite clear on keywords?

This motivated me to use Ubersuggest, AI, and what I learned in DIY SEO to rewrite the post using the updated keyword phrase to strengthen my position on Google, aka, rank higher in searches made by my potential clients. Lo and behold, I began ranking for additional related keywords not just in the US but also in the UK! People were finally finding me online!
Ubersuggest has been incredibly helpful in helping me stay focused on using keywords and creating content that my ideal audience wants to see. As my site gained more traction, I was getting found online via other keyword phrases already present on my site.
So, as more and more people searched for these phrases and found my site, I leaned in and did what I could to strengthen them with more robust blogs and articles. I also used what I learned to find other moderate to strong blog keyword search results that would serve my demographic well and increase visibility…then, I took Victoria’s savvy tips to encourage email opt-ins.
I’ve seen my subscriber list and my overall site traffic, as well as the time potential clients spend on my site, increase significantly.
Before I started implementing what I learned, my website traffic was consistently around 200 to 300 visits per month.
Now, however, traffic is consistently increasing, and I’m at over 800 visits per month!
Currently, I don’t devote a ton of time to blog keyword search ranking. But I do spend some time each month going over a list of keywords I want to rank for.
And while this is somewhat controversial, I’ve been deleting old content to ultimately strengthen my existing website while writing new content to keep those who find me via a search engaged on my site, satisfied with what they find, and motivated to sign up for my newsletter.
The results I’m getting for the time and money investment are hand over fist more worthwhile and rewarding than what I was facing by spending my life on social media.
Yes, a blog keyword search is really worth your time!
While I only started devoting some focused attention to this about six months ago, I am seeing the snowball effect of small, consistent habits and strategies gain momentum since the start of the new year.
With what feels like very little effort, in the last 12 weeks, I’ve added 11 cold-lead subscribers to my previously stagnant newsletter list that appear to be directly from my focus on using the specific blog keyword search techniques I’ve learned in Victoria’s SEO class.
Just 3 months ago, I edited one of my posts that had been getting traction for the keywords related to gas and cruciferous veggies, and my visits doubled in one month!
Because my website has mostly been a living recipe collection and virtual business card, I’m very pleased to see what using blog keyword search strategies can accomplish in so little time. I know this is a long game, but integrating SEO has been easier than I expected and feels like a much more sustainable way to increase my visibility than learning how to make duck lips and smile on social! ????

As I said, I know SEO can feel scary. Or even spammy; we’ve all gotten those robocalls offering help with getting found on Google.
But my experience with SEO has been empowering and highly effective—it’s practical, possible, and my practice is growing because of it.
